I was walking in the woods a little ways from camp several days ago...almost a week ago now. I probably shouldn't have been so far away but I am so thankful that I was.
As I passed by an obviously covered trap that was clearly made to catch an animal I saw a small shuffle of the leaves and heard a faint cry. I couldnt help myself and uncovered the trap to find the saddest sight I could lay my eyes on.
A very tiny black fox cub that was no more than a month old. I have no clue how he got there but his leg was badly tangled and he wouldnt have survived long in his situation. Even as I write this he may not survive still but I am remaining hopeful.
I freed him from the trap by removingvthe leg. I was lucky to be carrying some of Sonu'ul's healing potion on me. He was too weak to drink it but I poured a few drops on him where the leg was and prayed to Noktal not to take him just yet.
After bandaging the leg I took him home. Ive learned potions poured on a wound wont heal it...I didn't honestly expect it to...but it seems to at least helped stabalize him. And I have prayed many more times with Noktal not to take him. I would have asked Kierna but as death isnt her relm it didnt feel right to ask her to snatch him away from the one trying to take him to rest in the afterlife.
I thought I had lost him a few times but was able ti pull him back. Maybe my prayers have helped. I finally got him to take some ground meat and some cream but he still won't take any potions.
He is now resting and i feel he will pull through as he has not shown any signs of fading today. I may have found some favor with the Eldest after offering to name tge little guy Nok if he could stay in this realm to show others that the Eldest of death is not evil and is capable of kindness and mercy as well. Well I am going to enjoy some quiet sewing time. There is no telling when little Nok will wake up hungry. While I am tired, this tiny fox is worth all the hours of lost sleep.
